Letter, Lockport, to Gen. Micah Brooks, Brooksgrove, Livingston County, N.Y., expressing Hawley's opinions on inland canals versus ship canals, and discussing the politics in Albany surrounding the issue. Also, an extract from Hawley's will, stating his claim as the "projector" of the Erie Canal.
